| Pennabilli was created from the union of the two castles of Penna (now Roccione) and Billi (now Rupe). Penna castle is considered as one of the first properties of the Malatesta (11th century).
Pennabilli is one of the most important towns of the area known as Montefeltro, and is situated in a large natural amphitheatre overlooking the Marecchia Valley.
