The
name Maltignano testifies the
ancient origin of this village founded by the roman duumvir Publio Maltino
Basso that controlled this territory around 80
B.C.
The
same denomination was maintained by Carlo Magno, arrived in Italy in the 9th
century, who successively consigned Ager Maltineanus to the canonical
Capitolo of the church of Ascoli.
