founders of this ancient town were Piceni, an ancient Italic people. From
the port of Numana, Piceni traded with Greeks and with Etruscans, while
the maritime town had been flourishing. The remnants of the town walls
testify the Roman settlement. Here, the panorama of Riviera of Conero
changes: the beach spreads to the river Musone sheltered by the view upon
the woods of the mount Conero.
