Appignano
del Tronto, a beautiful town probably of Roman origins, is protected in
the most natural way by its bays formed of steep cliffs derived from
erosion of a very clay soil. It appears to be settled down on a hill of
the valley of the river Tronto, sprinkled with orderly rows of vines and
with olive trees twisted by years, that seem to be the sculptures of some
great artist.
