San Francesco Hotel is the only four star hotel in Loreto.
As you soon as you arrive, you immediately sense the structure’s former ‘life’: a large convent created in the ‘50s with an uncomplicated but graceful design. The hotel was, in fact, created through the careful and successful renovation of the old Casa San Francesco, whose welcoming spirit and charm has remained, and has been combined with new, simple and modern rooms, furnished with all the mod cons.
The main lobby, adorned with elegant arches, is the fulcrum around which the ample rooms stretch and is visible from every corridor, giving off a pleasing sensation of luminosity and serenity.
In the reception, the communal spaces and the bedrooms, elegant and exquisite art nouveau images by artist Fontanella give off a touch of refined light-heartedness.
The bedrooms are all endowed with a view of the basilica or the Adriatic Sea. They are air-conditioned and soundproofed, and boast fully equipped en-suite bathrooms.
The San Francesco Hotel is also fitted out with an internal conference centre that has a large, adequately equipped meeting room. Also, a large restaurant with a scenic terrace makes it the ideal location to host weddings and ceremonies.
The hotel is a ten-minute walk from the largest Marian sanctuary in Italy, which, since the fourteenth century, has made Loreto the destination of the most famous pilgrimage throughout the world. In fact, inside the basilica the Holy House of Nazareth is kept, where, according to tradition, the Virgin Mary received the Annunciation. The legend goes that the House of Nazareth was carried there by flying angels in order to escape the invasion of Palestine by the Muhammad’s followers. But the basilica is not only a religious place, it’s also an out-and-out art gallery: in order to complete it some of the greatest and most famous artists of the Renaissance period worked on it, including, to name a few, Luca Signorelli, Melozzo da Forli, Lorenzo Lotto, Bramante, Luigi Vanvitelli, Baccio Pontelli, Giuliano da Sangallo, Francesco di Giorgio Martini, Andrea Sansovino and Antonio da Sangallo the Younger.
The hotel, therefore, is the ideal starting point for trips throughout the region that will allow you to discover treasures, whether they be religious, artistic, culinary, scenic or artisanal. The hotel staff will assist you by suggesting the destinations of greatest interest. Also, in the summer, a shuttle bus service that connects the hotel with the splendid beaches of the Conero Riviera is available.
